Touted as a leading food technology forum of the region, GIDA is an all encompassing food fair which more than 3,000 international visitors are expected to visit.
The 17th International Food Products and Food Processing Technologies Exhibition (GIDA) promises to provide business networking and strategic cooperation opportunities for international food manufacturers and buyers.
As with previous fairs, the show will showcase all kinds of food processing and packaging machines, systems, and products under one roof.
GIDA will be organised concurrently with IPACK- 24th International Packaging and Food Processing Systems Exhibition.
The forum is supported by the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, under-secretariat for Foreign Trade, KOSGEB- Small and Medium Size Industry Development Organization and TGDF- Federation of Food & Drink Industry Associations of Turkey.

More international food and beverage exporters, such as those from China, Italy and the US, will be seen standing alongside leading importers and suppliers from India in the International Food & Drink Expo (IFE) India 2009.
This year, a series of business forums will also be organized to discuss the trends and challenges that are impacting India’s current food and beverage industry. A panel of leading experts in their fields will be present and debate on topics such as ‘Traceability in the Agri-food sector’.
Visitors can also look forward to a guided wine tasting session led by Magandeep Singh (India’s leading Sommelier and Food & Beverage Consultant) and his team of wine experts from Wi-Not Beverage Solutions India Pvt Ltd.
Furthermore, this year’s show will play host to the Indian Sommelier Championship- India’s only professional sommelier competition. Finalists will be judged by professional experts in front of a live audience, at both theory and practical levels.
The event is supported by the Institute of Wine + Beverage Studies (IWBS), the Official Wine Education Partner of the show.
According to the show’s organisers, Tarsus Group, the wine market in India is growing at 25 percent per annum, reaching 17 million litres consumption by 2011. These numbers illustrate the potential growth and development of the wine industry in India.

The 31st edition of SIGEP, International Exhibition of artisan Gelato, Confectionery and Bakery, will see the launch of a new feature - SIGIFT (Favour, Comfit, Decoration and Gift Show) to further highlight all aspects of the artisan confectionery chain.
The two exhibitions, with around 800 exhibitors, will occupy approximately 90,000 sq m of expo space, of which almost 8,000 sq m will be dedicated to SIGIFT.
With the debut of SIGIFT, it will be the only trade fair at which two product chains meet; the featuring of artisan pastry, confectionery and chocolate, together with the featuring of gift items for special events and anniversaries, decorations and packaging.
With an expected turnout of more than 92,000 visitors and close to 750 exhibitors, SIGEP 2009 will also highlight five major events: Gelato World Cup and the Selection of the Italian Team for the World Cup; The Idea and Music Workshop; Delicious & Famous; SIGEP Bread Cup and various Great Confectionery Forum Events.
Visitors can look forward to seeing the selection of the Italian team taking part in the World Confectionery Cup. The forth Gelato World Cup, organised by SIGEP and Cogel-Fipe, will see 10 international teams vying for the award.
The Idea and Music Workshop held on January 24 – 26 will see participating teams creating unusual and original combinations of gelato, while being guided by the music genre they had decided upon. The entries will then be examined by tasters of the Italian Association of Master Gelato Makers and an elected panel.
Coordinated by Club Arti e Mestieri and in collaboration with Rimini Fiera, the SIGEP Bread Cup will see 10 international teams taking part in thisb year. The artistic bread theme for 2009 is: Artisan bread, a certainty for the future.
Delicious & Famous will host international pastry cooks, stylists and confectioners from the Italian haute couture world.
Visitors can also expect to see other Great Confectionery Forum Events such as the Saint Valentine cake contest, which is to be held on January 27.
40 years of Sweets and Biscuits

Visitors to the 2010 International Sweets and Biscuits Fair (ISM) can expect to see up to 1,600 companies from about 70 countries exhibiting. Forty-one of them are exhibiting for the 40th time since 1971.
These 41 companies will be honoured for their commitment and loyalty at a 1970s-style themed ceremony on January 31.
In addition the fair’s organiser, Koelnmesse, is cooperating with Lekkerland AG & Co KG, to launch the premiere of the Convenience Summit, a top-quality specialist event for decision-makers in the international convenience market.
The conference is set to present important trends, opportunities and latest developments in the convenience market as well as successful business models and pioneering concepts from Germany and abroad. It will take place on January 31, at the Cologne exhibition centre.
Following the success of the debute of the New Product Showcase trend platform in 2009, ISM 2010 will have exhibitors continue presenting new innovations again in an attractive setting.
For the first time ever, the 2010 Innovation Prize will also be presented. Visiting journalists will pick the best innovations and they are eligible to take part in a prize drawing organized by Koelnmesse.
ProSweets Cologne 2010 will be taking place in parallel to ISM 2010 where the confectionery industry's entire value chain processes, starting with raw ingredients, technology, packaging and end product will be presented.
In addition, two new special shows, ‘Market Places’ and ‘Display’ will be held concurrently with ISM 2010. These shows focus particularly on the point of sale, each from a different perspective.
The fair will occupy roughly 110,000 sq m of exhibition space and approximately 33,000 internationals visitors are expected to participate.

Visitors can look forward to seeing the European fresh produce countries: Italy, Spain, Germany, France and the Netherlands being represented on Fruit Logistica 2010.
Mexico, one of the leading fruit and vegetable producing nations in Latin America, will be the official partner country for Fruit Logistica 2010. All of the nation's key fresh produce companies will be represented at Mexico's largest trade fair exhibit to date.
The popular Fresh Produce Forum will be held on February 1, a day before the exhibition opens. It is expected to attract some 300 professionals to learn about and discuss the latest trends driving the international fresh produce business.
Fruit Logistica 2010 will also be running in parallel to Freshconex 2010 to present an overview of the latest trends in the fresh produce convenience market.
Freshconex 2010 will see companies from all sectors of the fresh produce trade present their latest products and services and is expected to attract about 5,000 visitors worldwide.
Top innovations and outstanding achievements in the fresh produce trade will also be honoured at Fruit Logistica 2010.
Some 2,300 exhibitors from 80 countries are expected at the three-day show.

Continuing with the success of the special show organised in the 2009 BioFach, the theme for 2010 is Organic + Fair, where organic exhibits will also reflect the aspect of fair trade.
As with previous editions of the annual show, the Vivaness Forum 2010 will be running concurrently with BioFach 2010, presenting a range of natural personal care and wellness products.
Approximately 2,500 international exhibitors and over 45,000 visitors are expected to participate in the trade show.
The wine segment at the World Organic Trade Fair will continue receiving the limelight in 2010 as BioFach and MUNDUSvini/Meininger Verlag organise the first MUNDUSvini BioFach International Organic Wine Award.
Some 700 wines are expected to enter for the first MUNDUSvini BioFach International Organic Wine Award. The prize-winning organic wines will be selected by a jury of international experts and be honoured on February 17. Visitors can look forward to tasting them beforehand.
The BioFach Congress 2010 will also offer four days of expert knowledge, discussions, strategies and competitive concepts, with the opening day geared towards the German specialist trade.
Well-known and aspiring labels will also be presenting their new green fashion collections tailored with natural textiles in the special Textile Forum at the BioFach Congress.

Under the “Three-in-One” theme, the third Coffee, Tea & Drinks 2010, together with the third Bakery & Ice Cream 2010 and the forth Thai Franchise & SMEs Expo 2010, promise to offer the best and largest coffee, tea, drink, bakery, and ice cream show in Thailand.
Major activities happening during the four-day trade show include competitions such as the ‘National Thailand Barista Championship 2010’ and ‘Cake Decoration Competition’.
The organisers, Kavin Intertrade, will also be hosting a series of seminars discussing topics on coffee and bakery.

Signaling strong confidence in the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) market, hundreds of companies have already committed themselves to Gulfood 2010 exhibition to date.
More than 90 percent of the exhibition space at the region’s largest trade exhibition for food, drink, foodservice and hospitality equipment have been sold.
Leading manufacturers include the Hersey Company, Al Thika, Baking Technologies, Cargill, Chalhoub, Del Monte, GEA, Ishida, Nestle, Symrise and Villeroy & Boch are among those who had confirmed their places at the 2010 show organised by Dubai World Trade Centre.
According to a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, the GCC’s expenditure on food imports is expected to increase at least twofold, from US$24 billion in 2008 to US$49 billion by 2020.
As the global food industry is targeting the GCC market as an opportunity for future growth, new international companies are looking to break into the Middle East for the first time as well.
The representation of 75 countries insofar hence heralds the international market’s recognition of the exhibition as an essential event on the food business’s calendar.
This keynote is being exemplified by Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO, Dubai World Trade Centre. “The proven popularity of Gulfood highlights just how important this region is to their overall business plan”, he shared.
In conjunction to Gulfood 2010, Restaurant & Café and Ingredients Middle East will also take place alongside the show at DICEC in the new Sheikh Saeed Halls to allow industry buyers to source everything in one visit.
The fifth Dubai International Food Safety Conference will also be held parallel to Gulfood 2010 and is expected to draw over 1,100 industry delegates.
In addition, Gulfood 2010 will premiere the new Gulfood Conference entitled ‘Global Trends in Food, Beverage & Processing’. It will be a key networking event, bringing together international experts and professionals to discuss the fundamental issues driving the industry.
2010 will also see Gulfood and FoodBev Media partnering for the first time to give away Gulfood Awards. These awards are designed to celebrate and reward excellence across brands and products.
